Every February, across the country, candy, flowers, and gifts are exchanged between loved ones, all in the name of St. Valentine. Which is this occasion? This is nothing but the Valentine’s Day. It is one occasion which is celebrated almost everywhere in the world. Valentine’s Day is a perfect way to celebrate a special relationship or just treat yourself and your family in the middle of a cold and dreary winter.
For this day, you can set your table with your best dinnerware, romantic linens, flowers and candles. Don't forget the wine and cheese and your favorite romantic music to set the mood. Clean as you cook, but don't worry about the mess afterwards; leave the dishes till morning and enjoy each other!
No occasion looks complete without a sumptuous dinner. The same goes with Valentine’s Day as well. The main specialty of the Valentine’s Day meal is to add a lot of red food to the menu. You can turn any pale colored food, right from mashed potatoes to vanilla frosting to onion dip, by adding a little food coloring. This can be done naturally, by adding juices from red fruits like cherries or raspberries as a dye.
Besides adding red colored fruits, you can also dress up your regular pasta, chicken, fish or meat with a red sauce. Along with providing color, these sauces can also add a spicy touch to simple recipes.
Alternatively, you can also show some Valentine spirit in preparing everyday food. Cut bread into a heart shape and top it with peanut butter and jelly sandwich with some strawberry jelly. You can also pour pancake batters into heart shapes. Use ketchup, squeezed in a heart shape, of course – to add a Valentine touch to burgers or fries. Choose red or pink colors for staple meals and snacks like yogurt or jello. |
